Vis-à-vis (2024)
Vis-à-vis is a project undertaken as part of a study trip from the CEPV in Marseille, resulting in a collective exhibition titled Soupçonne-moi du meilleur as well as a forthcoming publication. Collaborating with teenagers from a school in Marseille's southern neighborhoods, I aimed to depict, and at times symbolize, the transition between childhood and the promise of a more independent life that adolescents in their final year of middle school experience. Vis-à-vis represents not only an exchange of gazes between them and myself, a student twice their age, but also a juxtaposition between the school—an enclosed, secure environment—and the Mediterranean Sea that borders Marseille, a symbol of freedom, exploration, and transformation.
